The Domestic Violence Center (DVC) offers an array of services unparalleled in Cuyahoga County and is one of the best agencies of its kind in the country. We provide comprehensive coordinated programs and services that address the immediate and long term needs of women, men and children who are affected by domestic violence. In addition, we're committed to being an agent of social change in the Greater Cleveland community by addressing the attitudes and beliefs that perpetuate domestic violence and undermine the formation of healthy relationships.

24-Hour Hotline | 216-391-HELP (4357)

Our 24-hour, seven-day a week hotline offers immediate crisis intervention, safety planning, information and referrals for anyone in and outside of Cuyahoga County experiencing concerns about domestic violence.

Shelter Services

Confidentially located shelter provides a safe environment for victims of domestic abuse and their children who need immediate protection. Advocacy, counseling, children services, group support, housing assistance, and court escorts are provided for all residents. Please call 216-391-HELP for more information.

Justice System Advocacy

Justice system advocates respond to victims' needs for crisis intervention, information, court escorts, personal advocacy and emotional support as they seek the full protection of domestic violence laws, including assistance with criminal and civil protective orders. Advocates work daily with victims in all but two of the suburban municipal courts. DVC also provides advocacy to victims in the Domestic Relations Court who are going through proceedings or dealing with custody and/or visitation issues. Community Support Groups

Free weekly facilitated groups throughout Cuyahoga County for women and children who have experienced abusive relationships. Victims can talk with one another about their experiences with domestic violence and receive needed information and support. Please call 216-391-HELP for more information.

Youth Community Support Groups

Free weekly facilitated groups for youth who have experienced or witnessed abusive relationships. Additional youth programming includes counseling, art therapy sessions and classroom presentations. Please call Sonia at 216-688-7293 for more information.

Latina Domestic Violence Project

Works to facilitate safe options and stability for Latina victims of domestic violence and their children. The program offers services which take into consideration the realities of Latino life, including cultural diversity and values. Ujima Project

Outreach and culturally specific programming for the African American community including confidential weekly peer-based, professionally-led support groups, plus training and technical assistance to organizations seeking to create groups in their communities. Supervised Visitation Center

Volunteer Program

DVC partners with individuals, businesses and groups who lend their time, talent and expertise as volunteers. Volunteers assist with a range of projects including direct service, clerical assistance and fundraising.
