The Domestic Violence Center (DVC) is seeking nominations for the Peer Leadership Award which recognizes and calls upon teens who are leaders and role models among their peers. DVC believes that peer leadership and support are crucial to our vision of creating future generations of relationships based on open communication, trust and respect.
Each year DVC holds its Break the Silence…Break the Cycle Luncheon to raise funds and awareness for our services and programs. This year’s focus will be on Teens and Healthy Relationships. With the spotlight on teenagers, the Domestic Violence Center would like to recognize teens from high schools throughout Cuyahoga County who set an outstanding example for their classmates through their kindness, leadership, and positive values. The teens who are nominated will be acknowledged at our luncheon on October 21st before 500 distinguished guests and community leaders. A select group of nominees will attend as our guests to receive special recognition.
DVC’s 15th Annual Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Windows on the River. The keynote speaker is Vicki Crompton Tetter, whose daughter was a tragic victim of dating violence. Vicki has devoted the 16 years since her daughter’s death to raising awareness about this important issue and educating parents on the ways they can protect and support their children as they begin to form relationships. She is the author of Saving Beauty from the Beast, and has made numerous TV appearances.
